Dear HMS Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. December is moving quickly along, and we wanted to share with you some of the recent work being done by HMS students and educators. The photo above showcases some of the masks created by our 6th graders in Art class. Students created masks made of clay, paper mache, and acrylic paint. The masks are based on animal features, and students include at least five patterns. These masks were completed by students during our first trimester. On Monday, December 5, HMS educators engaged in discussions focused on equity of opportunity at HMS. We reviewed a resource together and then identified areas where inequities exist in our classrooms, our school, and our community. Educators reflected on ways that we can more effectively carry out the Yarmouth School Department Mission: Empowering all students to create fulfilling lives in a changing world. As we engage in this work together, we recognize that it will continue throughout this school year and beyond.

PTO Update
December Events: Tonight from 6-8pm an incredible lineup of talented artists will be at HMS for Artists Night. These artists will have crafts available for middle school students to make something special to bring home. We are thrilled to be hosting this event again as it has been a few years since it happened last. This will be a free event and we hope to see you tonight!
Next PTO meeting, Dec 15 4pm, YES Library, all are welcome to attend!

Yearbook (reminder)
The 2023 HMS Yearbook is now available to pre-order at this Yearbook Order Link.
Families may buy a yearbook online for $33 from now until December 31st. On January 1st, the price will increase to $38. Yearbooks will be distributed in June.
