Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we continue our focus on digital citizenship and the importance of balance regarding time spent on screens/devices, we are pleased to offer the following learning opportunity for all Yarmouth parents:
The Parent/School Alliance will feature a presentation from Jonathan R. Werner on January 31, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Yarmouth Performing Arts Center (located at Yarmouth High School).
Jonathan is the President of the International Society for Technology in Education Librarians Network and a co-organizer of #1to1techat (Wednesdays at 9:00 PM EST). He is also a regular contributor to #tlchat and #edchatme.
Jonathan’s most recent presentations to schools and communities focus on the discussion of the growing #TruthAboutTech and #TimeWellSpent movements to fight the rising tide of addictive technology. He is a Library & Instructional Technology Specialist at the Library and Learning Commons at Cape Elizabeth Middle School. We hope that you are able to join us for this event.
We also want to share this timely resource from Screenagers: Creating Consequences, Hard But Necessary! explores ideas, resources, and supports for parents to consider when discussing and formulating agreements about screen time with their children.
December Rotary Recipients: Congratulations to Sailor Perry and Paige Brewer, December’s recipients of the HMS/Rotary Recognition award! This recognition is based on growth mindset and the effort/grit/perseverance demonstrated by HMS students. Please visit HMS NEWS for the full story, coming soon!
