Greetings from HMS!
We are so excited to host the Glow Run again this year in person! Please find important information below:
Hello Parents and Guardians,
The Glow Run is back at HMS! Last year, covid necessitated an online version called Move-a-thon. This year, students will gather in the gym in small, socially distanced groups for the Glow Run, a type of fun run. Students receive pledges for the laps they make around a glowing track through a lit tunnel while listening to music played by the extremely energetic DJ. All students will join in the fun of the Glow Run regardless of number of pledges. This type of fundraiser helps build community around a common cause and allows our students to move and play, providing some safe normalcy during an unusual time. While our goal is to raise funds to provide enrichments, the Glow Run is also about students and families working together to support the school.
Why a fundraiser? In past years, HMS held fundraisers like the Sunrise Guide to support some of their students' enrichment opportunities. The past couple years, the PTO has offered assistance with this task through the Glow Run/Move-a-thon.
When? The event kicks off this Friday, January 14, but you can pledge now at www.funrun.com. Pledges are gathered by students until the day of the Glow Run on Wednesday, January 26.
What else? To add to the fun, students will wear their Glow Run t-shirts the day of the event, which teachers will pass out on Jan 26. T-shirts are provided with donations from Nighthawks Kitchen, From Sea to You Designs, Maine Post and Beam, and Delany Arts. The Glow Run’s highly stimulating environment might not work well for all students. We will provide a quieter setting at the end of the day for those who prefer that option.
Questions? Send an email to Mary Post and Christy Hayashida at firstname.lastname@example.org. We check it every day. Thank you, parents and guardians, for your time and support!
