Dear Parents and Guardians-

In keeping with best practices that promote the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff, we’re planning a lock down drill for Thursday, April 5 at 2:15 P.M. This is the fourth year that our school will participate in this type of drill and the second of two drills scheduled for this year. Our staff will discuss the lock down protocol during advisory groups and in classes/homerooms for several days before the drill. Students will be well versed in the instructions to stay "dark, low, and quiet.” Members of the Yarmouth Police Department will join us to critique our procedures and provide feedback. We wanted to share this information with you so you can check in with your child(ren) about the upcoming drill if it feels useful to do so.

Continuing with the topic of school safety, we’re asking for your help navigating the traffic patterns during morning and afternoon drop-off and pickup times. We’re continuing to see an increase in traffic and cars moving at high speeds. We need your assistance to ensure that our students are able to move safely to and from the building. We greatly appreciate your partnership with this.

You Can Support Our Students’ Safety By Doing The Following:

-Please use the small loop to drop students off before 7:45 A.M. (the small loop refers to the area to the left of the lower parking spaces). This keeps the large loop open for our busses.

-Please make plans with your child before dropping her/him off in the morning. This will eliminate the need for long conversations at the drop off points, which will help to keep the traffic moving.

-Please go around the large loop to drop students off after 7:45 A.M. when the buses have completed their runs to HMS. Cars should pull up to the stop sign in a line and avoid pulling out and passing each other on the left.

-Students dropped off in the upper parking lot should walk to the building on the sidewalk. They should not cut through the lower parking lot.

 Pickup:

-The buses will be lined up for pickup with lights flashing; do not pass them.

-Please use the large loop for afternoon pickup, after the buses have departed.
