Dear HMS Families-
We want to share the following updates about events and activities at HMS for the next several weeks. We thank you in advance for your understanding, flexibility, and support during these challenging times.
Please know that we are relying on the guidance and expertise of the CDC and DOE as we make these decisions. We are prioritizing the health and well-being of our students, staff, and community members as necessary. We understand how disappointing these postponements and cancellations can feel for those impacted given the hours of hard work and dedication students have put into their preparations for these events. We are so sorry about the need to move forward with these changes, and we will continue to do everything we can to support all HMS students and our learning community as a whole.
Please take some time to review the following information carefully:
-As Dr. Dolloff noted in his communication, all HMS field trips are canceled for the foreseeable future. We will make a decision at a later date as to the appropriate time to reinstate such trips.
-*The 5th grade play parent information night will not be held tonight, March 12th. We will send a separate update about this.
-The 7th/8th grade play performances will not be held on Saturday, March 14th. Please note that the dress rehearsal on Friday is a closed performance for the cast and crew only.
-Our HMS concerts, scheduled for March 30th and March 31st, will not take place.
-Unified Basketball and Indoor Track will continue their practices on site. These teams will not attend meets or games for the remainder of the season.
-Swimming practices and meets are canceled for the remainder of the season.
We will keep you updated about any other changes as decisions are made.
Thanks very much-
Joan Adler and Tom McDowell
