Dear Parents and Guardians-
Last Friday our 8th grade students hosted the annual Young Athletes Festival in partnership with Special Olympics of Maine. We want to recognize and thank these students and their teachers for the energy and enthusiasm they shared with the visiting athletes! Our students made sure that every athlete received the attention and encouragement needed; they played and laughed together and cheered the athletes on as they mastered new skills. So many of our visitors commented on the kind and caring way our students interacted with the athletes. We are proud of our students’ efforts and work at this exciting community event. Huge appreciation, as always, to Lisa Bird, from the Special Olympics. She is the driving force behind the festival, which teaches so many essential life lessons!
May Rotary Recipients: Congratulations to Violet Bailey and Avella Merriam, May recipients of the HMS/Rotary Recognition award! This recognition is based on growth mindset and the effort/grit/ perseverance demonstrated by HMS students.
Smoking at bus stops: A reminder about the importance of clean, healthy air for our students and community. In support of our children, please refrain from smoking at bus stops.
Lost and Found: Remember to check out the HMS Lost and Found - we still have many pairs of boots waiting to be reunited with their owners!
