August 30, 2021

Dear YES Families,

The first week of school is upon us! Just a few reminders and updates for you to be aware of this week:

TUESDAY MEET & GREET DROP-IN

We look forward to seeing you at our informal drop-in “Meet and Greet” on Tuesday, August 31. Times for this year are staggered to help with parking and spacing within the school.

Grade 2: 9:45- 10:30 am Grade 3: 10:00- 10:45 am Grade 4: 10:15- 11:00 am

Please note that all students and adults will need to wear a facemask for this event. THIS IS DESIGNED TO BE VERY BRIEF. ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS SHOULD ONLY BE STAYING IN THEIR CLASSROOM FOR FIVE MINUTES. This is an opportunity for you and your children to meet their teacher, visit their classroom and get a peek at the new addition and renovated spaces for the first time.

There still will be some work being finished up in both the main entrance parking lot and around the building. Parking will be tight for this event. We have arranged for the parking lot and drop-off loop to be available between 9:45 and 11:00 a.m. You may use the new spaces at your designated drop-in time but please make sure all vehicles are out of the area after that. The bicycle storage area will not be available until the first day of school.

We have also spoken with the Yarmouth Police Department and they will allow parking on one side of McCartney Street for this event. If parking on McCartney Street please use the side opposite the school and curb (closer to the Winslow Field/Tennis Courts) back toward the HMS side of McCartney.

We appreciate your help and understanding as we provide the opportunity to visit while also making sure the last needed construction items are taken care of.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 & THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2- FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL

We are excited to begin the school year! Please remember that children should not arrive before 8:25 AM as there is no supervision before then. School begins promptly at 8:40 AM.  Breakfast will be available until 8:50 AM.

If your child is riding the school bus you can find the updated schedules on our district website at this link:  Updated Bus Schedules 2021-22. The links in this document will provide you with the approximate pick-up and drop-off times for your neighborhood. Please remember that for the first few days times can vary as drivers and families adjust to this schedule.

Students being dropped off by parents should be dropped off in the new drop off/pick up loop in front of the new main entrance. In the afternoon, please plan your pick-up time for your child’s dismissal, use PikMyKid procedures, and stay in your vehicle as your child will be directed to your car. Please have car tags displayed prominently.

We will begin a staggered dismissal process just after 3:25 PM. All students will be dismissed by 3:30 PM. Any parents picking up should be at school and waiting in the pickup line by 3:30 PM and no later than 3:45 PM.

Also, remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, September 3, and Monday, September 6 for the Labor Day holiday.
