Dear Parents and Guardians-
We hope this finds you well, with your power restored, and looking forward to weekend activities!
Please take a few moments to review the following information, which we hope you find useful:
Screenagers - “Hold That Text”: We want to share the attached article from Screenagers, which supports our “off and away policy” for cell phones. We hope you will talk with your children about it, and that it provides some interesting information for your consideration.
Bike safety: A reminder that students/adults riding bicycles in a school area - on the sidewalks, in a parking lot, or anywhere close to where school buses are parked - may not pass school buses when the lights are flashing. Cyclists must wait until the school bus turns off the flashing lights and moves forward before they can continue to ride. Please check in with your children about this law. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe.
Alpine Ski Team - A message from Coach Gross: Based on the projected numbers for this year’s Alpine Ski team, 6th grade racers may be included on the team (a friendly reminder that the Alpine ski team is a 'learn to race' program not a 'learn to ski' program). To help determine Alpine team membership, all 6th, 7th and 8th grade racers who would like to be on the team need to register in PowerSchool by Friday, October 19. There will be an organizational meeting for students and parents in early November (more information about that soon). Please send questions to Bob_Gross @yarmouthschools.org.
Dates To Remember
-School Picture Day - October 23
-Sports Information Night - 7/8 Grade Girls Basketball - October 23, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
-The 6th Grade Play - Dear Edwina - will be performed twice on Saturday, November 3! The first performance will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The second show will run from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door.
Thanks very much-
