Thursday, February 22, 2018

The 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, and 5th& 6th Grade Chorus performed to perfection during the winter concert season!

The 5th and 6th Grade Chorus captivated the audience with a program full of challenging songs that showcased their range and vocal prowess, including a rollicking take on Frosty the Snowman. It was clear that the students' hard work was the foundation for all of these stirring performances.

The 5th Grade Band showed their chops with the world premiere of Mr. C's latest composition, A Rival of the Victorious Queen. The 6th Grade Band guided the audience through scary noises in the basement and took them on a ride on a comet with their skillful playing.

Congratulations to musicians in the HMS Symphonic Band, HMS Jazz Choir and 7th and 8th Grade Chorus! Their winter concert featured beautiful, intensely challenging pieces played and sung with precision and emotion. The performances enchanted audience members, moving some to tears.

The Water is Wide, played by our Symphonic Band, and Hallelujah Chorus, sung by the 7th and 8th Grade Concert Choir are just two examples of this spectacular evening of music. Our students demonstrated their musicianship by conveying the feeling of the music along with the incredible sound.

Our thanks to Mr. Dustin, for his expert accompaniment on the piano during our concerts. We're fortunate to benefit from his support.

We're grateful, as always, to Mrs. Grover and Mr. C., who share their skills and expertise to create these special performances. They teach our students about the joy music brings to all of our lives and how to share this feeling with others. This winter's performances are evidence that our students have learned these lessons well!
