 October 30, 2020

 Dear HMS Families,

Thank you for your ongoing support to keep our learning community as safe and healthy as possible as we move through the fall. Our students amaze us every day with their positive attitudes, creativity, and care for each other, our staff, and our school!

We appreciate your attention to the updates below, which include information about holiday supports. We hope you enjoy some images that reflect the recent adventures in learning at HMS!

From everyone at HMS,

 Joan Adler and Tom McDowell

HMS Day of Welcome

We extend our thanks and appreciation to the HMS Civil Rights Team and their advisors, Ms. Mike, Ms. Agell, and Ms. Hill, for creating the CRT celebration of the second annual "Days Of Welcome", which took place on Thursday and Friday last week. Civil Rights Teams in over 250 schools across the state of Maine celebrated this day and welcomed all students as they arrived at their schools. The mission of Civil Rights Teams is to support schools to reflect on and talk about the six categories that are protected under the Maine Civil Rights Law. Those categories include: gender (gender identity and expression), race and skin color, national origin and ancestry, disability, sexual orientation, and religion. Thanks to our Civil Rights Team for their inspiring work and for spreading the message of welcome to everyone at our school!

With Thanks To Our HMS Parents and Our PTO!

The HMS staff was overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our parents and our PTO! Thank you for the wonderful gift cards to Claytons, which we will put to great use. It was so much fun to hear the enthusiastic responses to this school-wide gift as staff members opened this special surprise!

It’s time to order Yearbooks!

Order a HMS 2021 yearbook for your student for $25 until December 31, 2020! The price will increase to $30 after January 1st. Reserve your child’s yearbook at this Jostens link. For more information, please contact Holly_Allen@yarmouthschools.org.

The Great Pineland Pumpkin Adventure

Thanks to Zach Callahan, Jen Laberge, Steph Robison, and Ragan Bartlett for developing this engaging learning experience for our students. Huge gratitude to Kath Callahan and Pineland for the donation of the pumpkins and for making this possible for our kids!
