Southern Maine Math League
The Southern Maine Math League is an opportunity for teams of students in grades 5-8 to compete mathematically. Up to 30 teams from schools at each grade level from around southern Maine generally attend these meets throughout the school year.  Individual students are recognized for high scores, and the top scoring teams recieve awards as well.

5th and 6th Grades
Description:
The focus of the 5th/6th grade Math Team is on fun, games and learning new concepts in mathematics. They attend four meets during the year in Portland. Students who attend practice are eligible to go to the meets and compete with other school in southern Maine.

Who May Participate:
5th/6th enrollment in open to any motivated student who enjoys working on and solving challenging mathematics problems.

7th and 8th Grades
Description:
The focus of the 7th/8th grade Math Team is to provide an enriching and cooperative atmosphere where students are challenged with math problems that focus on arithmetic and geometry.  The students attend four meets during the year where they compete against schools across Southern Maine.  The last meet of the year takes place at the Portland Expo.

Who May Participate:
7th/8th Math Team participation is open to any motivated student who enjoys working on and solving challenging mathematics problems.
